The Role
The Creative Development Manager will be a key part of The River House leadership team, balancing hands-on day-to-day operations with creative and developmental projects. You’ll support the GM and AM in maintaining a dynamic, inspiring environment that champions originality, staff growth, and community connection.
This is a role for someone who’s both creative and operationally sharp — someone who loves café culture, understands the hospitality world, and has a passion for making things happen.
Key Responsibilities
Creative Direction & Development
• Collaborate with the bakers, chefs, and GM to develop innovative menu concepts, new cakes, drinks specials, and seasonal offerings.
• Keep up to date with trends in food, coffee, and café culture — and translate them into unique ideas that make The River House stand out.
• Work closely with the Company Director to ensure The River House continues to evolve as a destination for fresh, creative experiences.
People & Culture
• Support ongoing staff development, training, and individual growth plans alongside the GM.
• Foster a positive, inclusive, and inspiring team culture where everyone feels valued and motivated.
• Help identify skill-building opportunities to ensure the team continues to develop alongside the business.
Marketing & Community Engagement
• Manage and grow our social media presence with engaging, humorous, and authentic content that reflects The River House personality.
• Run online competitions, highlight regulars, and find fun ways to reward loyalty and engage our local community.
• Keep our website updated with relevant info about upcoming events, and news.
• Collaborate with local creatives, the arts centre, and other tenants on events, fundraisers, and markets that connect The River House to the wider community.
Collaboration with Loud Mouth Coffee
• Coordinate with the Loud Mouth team on coffee-related events, product launches, collaborations, and cross-promotion.
• Support the promotion and storytelling of Loud Mouth coffee within The River House space and beyond.
Operational Support
• Assist with daily operations including staff scheduling, service flow, and maintaining standards across the café.
• Ensure exceptional quality and consistency in both service and product delivery.
• Contribute to achieving financial and performance goals through smart planning and hands-on leadership.
About You
• A background in hospitality management or a senior café/restaurant role.
• Creative and proactive mindset — you love generating ideas and bringing them to life.
• Strong leadership and people skills, with experience developing and motivating teams.
• Confident in using social media strategically and creatively.
• Interest or experience in coffee, events, or food development is a big plus.
• Organised, flexible, and unafraid to get stuck in on the floor when needed.
